Ajax could now beat West Ham United to the signing of Metz striker Georges Mikautadze after selling Mohammed Kudus.

West Ham United have signed Mohammed Kudus but could now see Ajax spend the money on Metz goalscorer Georges Mikautadze.

That is according to L’Equipe, who claim that Ajax have opened talks to sign Mikautadze.

It’s stated that Ajax are ‘very fond’ of Mikautadze and are now pushing to bring him to Amsterdam ahead of the transfer deadline.

Talks are ongoing and Metz are currently demanding around €20million (£17million)

Ajax are seeking new goalscoring options and could now end up beating West Ham to the signing of Mikautadze.

Reports from the Daily Mail last week suggested that West Ham were considering a late move to land the Georgian international.

Gianluca Scamacca has moved on to Atalanta and West Ham will surely be in the market for a new striker in the coming days.

Mikautadze was one option after 24 goals in 40 games for Metz last season but he could now head to Amsterdam instead.

Ajax could spend Mohammed Kudus money on West Ham target Georges Mikautadze

There’s a certain irony here given that Ajax and West Ham have just struck a deal.

West Ham announced the arrival of Ajax star Mohammed Kudus on Sunday evening having agreed a £38million deal with the Dutch giants.

Kudus feels like a huge coup for West Ham and should provide a real spark in the final third for David Moyes’ side.

The Ghanaian’s arrival has certainly got fans excited but Ajax could now use the money from his sale to go and land Mikautadze.

Ask most West Ham supporters and they would probably much prefer to have Kudus over MIkautadze.

Yet it’s a potential striking addition that could slip away from David Moyes, who may have wanted to land both players rather than one or the other.
