A.J. Brown’s absence from the Philadelphia Eagles’ offseason program is not just about skipping voluntary work; it is about uncertainty.

The star wide receiver remains one of the team’s most important players, but his current situation has created questions that go beyond preparation for the upcoming season.

With trade speculation continuing to build, every decision he makes is now being viewed through a different lens, and this latest development only adds to the growing sense that something bigger could be unfolding.

A.J. Brown set to skip Eagles offseason workouts

According to NBC Sports, Brown will not be present as the team begins its voluntary program.

“Brown is not expected to be part of that work, however. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Brown will not attend the Eagles’ offseason work as he waits for clarity on his future,” NBC Sports reported.

That phrasing is key. This is not being framed as a routine absence, but one tied directly to unresolved questions about his standing with the franchise.

For a player of Brown’s caliber, those kinds of signals rarely go unnoticed.

Why A.J. Brown’s Eagles future remains uncertain

The situation has been building for months, with multiple factors contributing to the uncertainty.

Despite recording 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025, Brown’s role in the offense came under scrutiny as the system shifted and his involvement fluctuated.

There were also signs of frustration during the season, with reports pointing to locker room tension and concerns over how the offense functioned overall.

At the same time, the Eagles have quietly positioned themselves for flexibility, adding depth at wide receiver and preparing for the financial implications tied to Brown’s contract.

Trade speculation has since intensified, with the New England Patriots emerging as a potential destination, especially given Brown’s past connection with Mike Vrabel.

Timing also plays a role, as a move after June 1 would allow Philadelphia to better manage the salary cap impact. But, for now, nothing is finalized.
