Middlesbrough will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has been quoted as saying by Super Sport that Tottenham Hotspur will challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Tottenham finished third in the league table during the 2015-16 campaign and are playing in the Champions League this season.
The North London outfit are doing well at the moment and are one of the favourites to finish in the top four yet again.
Many Spurs fans will fancy the team to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United for the title as well.
Boro manager Karanka, who won the Champions League thrice as a player with Spanish giants Real Madrid, has backed Tottenham to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The Spanish boss has also spoken highly of Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
We got to know each other on that course and a couple of years ago Tottenham were helpful in loaning us some players so we have a good relationship,” Super Sport quotes Karanka as saying.
“He’s a good coach and a good friend, but that friendship has to go on hold as soon as the first whistle goes. He’s done a really good job as a coach going right back to his time at Espanyol in Spain.
“He was close to winning the title with Spurs last season and I think they can challenge again this time.”
Middlesbrough will face Tottenham at the Riverside Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Boro are 13th in the league table at the moment with five points from as many games.
As for Spurs, Pochettino’s side currently find themselves third in the standings with 11 points from five matches.
