Middlesbrough drew 1-1 with West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has told BBC Sport that he was pleased to secure a draw against West Ham as they have amazing players.
Boro travelled to London on Saturday afternoon to take on the Hammers at the London Stadium.
They would have been quietly confident about securing their second win of the season against Slaven Bilic’s side given that the hosts had lost their last four games in succession.
Middlesbrough were on course to make it five too after Cristhian Stuani headed them into the lead in the 51st minute.
However, a superb solo goal from Dimitri Payet levelled the scores six minutes later, an neither side were able to find a winner.
Both teams will be disappointed not to pick up all three points but Karanka insists he was happy given the quality of their opponents.
“It is a good point, especially after three defeats,” he told BBC Sport.
“It is important that our attitude has been good. West Ham have not been in the best moment but they have amazing players. So I’m pleased to add one more point and play with that intensity.”
In truth, the draw was ideal for neither side as it leaves them at the wrong end of the table.
Middlesbrough will certainly be the happier of the two, though, as they sit 16th in the table with six points from their first seven games.
West Ham, meanwhile, are left sitting in the bottom three having only picked up four points so far this season.
