Aitor Karanka could make great start to life at Nottingham Forest by competing double-swoop

Nottingham Forest are said to be looking at Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford and midfielder Adam Clayton.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka is looking to sign Adam Clayton and Patrick Bamford from Middlesbrough and that would be an encouraging start to life for the Spanish boss at the City Ground.

Forest are expected to back Karanka with funds in the January transfer window, and the new boss is already eyeing up players to spend the money on.

Clayton and Bamford may have fallen out of favour at Boro, but they could prove to be good options for Forest.

Forest fans would need no reminder of Bamford’s talents, as they have watched his career with interest, since he broke through as a youngster at the City Ground.

Bamford would surely arrive and go straight into Forest’s first-team, if he was snapped up, and his goalscoring record at Championship level suggests he could have a major impact.

Clayton, meanwhile, could add steel to Forest’s midfield and, crucially, give them some experience in the middle of the pitch.

The Reds have a very young team, but Clayton would have the knowhow to guide some his younger teammates through matches.

And if Karanka pulls off the double-swoop, then he will definitely increase the amount of quality available to him at Forest.
