Aitor Karanka’s Nottingham Forest faced Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium in the Championship this past weekend.

Forest took on Middlesbrough away from home at the Riverside Stadium in the Championship this past Saturday afternoon.
Boro won the match 2-0, thanks to goals from Daniel Ayala and Stewart Downing in the seventh and the 31st minute respectively.
Karanka was in charge of Middlesbrough from November 2013 until March 2017 and guided the club to the Premier League from the Championship.
The former Real Madrid assistant head coach has thanked the fans of Middlesbrough for the reception they gave him, and has also revealed that Boro chairman Steve Gibson sent him a message before the game.

Karanka told The Northern Echo: “I have a lot of good memories and I did not have any doubt that we love each other because when I came here I felt a really hungry club and when I left it was a club in the Premier League.
“I was in an odd place, especially with people saying I had problems with the players, with the crowd and the board.
“The first person to send me a message on Friday before I came here was the chairman (Steve Gibson) and it was a nice reception from the fans.”
