Nottingham Forest came from behind to draw 1-1 with Reading last night.

Aitor Karanka, Manager of Middlesbrough looks on prior to the Premier League match between Stoke City and Middlesbrough at Bet365 Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Stoke on Trent, England.

Aitor Karanka has admitted to the Nottingham Forest’s official website that he doesn’t understand why his side started so slowly against Reading.

Forest went 1-0 down in the first-half of the contest at the City Ground, and they failed to show their best in the opening 45 minutes.

However, the Reds turned things around after the break, with a number of their players stepping up their performances.

Lee Tomlin was the driving force behind Forest’s comeback, and he scored a late leveller to ensure that Karanka’s side got a point.

But the Spanish boss wasn’t entirely satisfied with his side’s performance after the match.

“I’m delighted with the second-half performance but not with the first,” Karanka said.

“We need to be starting games with the same intensity as we started the second half and then we can enjoy games at home.

“The atmosphere was amazing in the second half and we always need to give our supporters a performance that they can get behind. I still can’t understand why we started the game so slowly but the response was excellent after half-time.”

Forest’s draw against Reading was thoroughly deserved in the end, but it means that their winless streak was extended.

Karanka’s side have failed to win any of their last six matches, with frustrations rising around the City Ground.

Forest are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Queens Park Rangers.
