Philippe Coutinho could soon be donning the colours of Aston Villa, with Steven Gerrard keen to reunite with his old Liverpool teammate and even, Ryanair, have got in on the act.
The Irish airline posted on Twitter a message about Coutinho possibly travelling from Barcelona to Birmingham.
The airline joked that ‘Stevie G will even pay for the extra legroom’, as they added the message with Coutinho’s hashtag and the AVFC hashtag.
On Wednesday, the Villa transfer rumour mill went into overdrive when news started filtering through that the Midlands side were keen on signing Coutinho.
BBC Sport report that Villa are one of a number of Premier League clubs that want to bring him back to England’s top-flight from Barcelona on a possible loan deal.
It’s obvious that Villa would hold some advantage in signing the long-range specialist because Gerrard played alongside and thrived with him at Anfield.
And if Villa pull off such a move, then it would be a serious signal of intent to the rest of the Premier League that they mean serious business.
Villa are chasing Europe and, at this moment in time, they are behind in wanting to return to that level of football.
But a player of Coutinho’s ilk certainly helps them towards that goal because he is a player of seriously high quality.
Of course, there will be some who will question where the player is at because he hasn’t exactly hit the heights or level of performances he was producing on Merseyside.
