Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the developing situation of Ainsley Maitland-Niles at Arsenal amid interest from Everton.
What’s the story?
The Mirror are reporting this morning that Maitland-Niles has been told by Arsenal that he will not be training with the first team.
Why?
Well, because the 24-year-old said on Instagram yesterday that he wants to leave Arsenal before the summer transfer window closes tonight.
Everton have made a loan offer to sign Maitland-Niles, but Arsenal have blocked it, according to The Mirror yesterday (2:05pm).
What does Gary Lineker think?
As you can see below, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Lineker has sided with Maitland-Niles.
The Match of the Day presenter believes that Arsenal fans will side with the club, but he is sympathetic towards the 24-year-old, who can play as a right-back or in midfield.

What now for Ainsley Maitland-Niles?
It is really hard to envisage Maitland-Niles not training with the Arsenal first team if he stays at the club.
Surely the Gunners will not pay a 24-year-old first-team player not to train or play for an entire season.
Perhaps Arsenal and Maitland-Niles will come to an arrangement today, and a transfer to Everton could well happen.
