Arsenal beat Norwich City 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles has praised the club’s fans on Instagram.
The Gunners really needed a win against Norwich. Three straight Premier League defeats to start the season was hardly ideal for Mikel Arteta and co.
Arsenal did get the win; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal of the game, bundling the ball home after Nicolas Pepe had been denied.
This wasn’t the margin of victory Arsenal were hoping for, but a win is a win – and the attacking play on show was more encouraging than seen of late.
Maitland-Niles given a chance to shine
Two weeks ago, it looked like Ainsley Maitland-Niles would be leaving Arsenal.
Maitland-Niles took to Instagram to beg Arsenal to let him leave with Everton keen on taking him to Goodison Park.
The transfer deadline passed with Maitland-Niles still at the Emirates Stadium, and the focus must now be on utilising him.

The 24-year-old was given a start against Norwich, playing in midfield alongside Albert Sambi Lokonga with Granit Xhaka suspended.
Maitland-Niles took to Instagram to post a message, focusing more on the fans than the win itself.
Maitland-Niles hailed the ‘great support’ at the Emirates, and will be hoping to experience more home starts this season.
