Leicester City are reportedly considering recalling Harvey Barnes from his loan spell at West Bromwich Albion during the January window.

In comments reported by Leicestershire Live, Aidy Boothroyd has suggested that he thinks that Harvey Barnes would be better off staying at West Brom for the entire season amid reports that Leicester plan to recall him in January.

Barnes has been a revelation at The Hawthorns. The attacking midfielder has been a key part of a devastating front three along with Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle, and Darren Moore’s men go into this international break as the leading scorers in the Championship by some distance.

Barnes has scored five times in the league while also providing two assists for the Baggies. He has often looked like West Brom’s most dangerous player, and that is why recent reports regarding Leicester’s plans for the youngster will worry some of club’s supporters.

The Daily Mail recently reported that the Foxes are seriously considering bringing Barnes back into the fold in January, using a recall clause that was agreed when the 20-year-old left for the Championship side.

But Boothroyd – who has handed the youngster his first call-up to the England under-21 squad during this break – suggested he would like to see Barnes stay with West Brom for the full campaign.

“I’d like him to play as many games as possible and I think a full season in the Championship will do him the world of good,” he said, as reported by Leicestershire Live. “But he’s Leicester’s player and if they want to call him back that is their prerogative.”
