Aiden McGeady has told the Edinburgh Evening News that Kevin Nisbet is good enough for both Celtic and Rangers when discussing the striker’s quality – as he continues to shine after his return from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Nisbet, 25, featured in Michael Beale’s first game as manager – his first game since the injury. He scored – and has gone on to score five goals in his five games since returning to play. On Sunday, he got a hat-trick in a win over Motherwell.
The striker’s impressive form in the past has earned him 10 Scotland caps – and Steve Clarke is likely to be taking note once again. Nisbet has a contract at Easter Road until the summer of 2024, and has been linked with the Old Firm.
Now, ex-Celtic winger McGeady gave his verdict on Nisbet. He discussed whether Nisbet is good enough to play for either Rangers or Celtic – or move to a club down south. McGeady is confident his teammate can perform at that level.

“If he carries on playing the way he has been, there will be no shortage of suitors. I don’t want to be talking him into a move away from Hibs, but it’s only natural that these things happen,” McGeady told the Edinburgh Evening News.
“England or Celtic or Rangers? I don’t know but he’s been really good from what I’ve seen so far. I’ve clearly not played a lot with him but on Sunday, without having too much of the ball, he showed exactly what he can do.”
McGeady: Nisbet is good enough for both Celtic and Rangers
Celtic and Rangers could be in the market for a new striker. Giorgos Giakoumakis is being linked with the exit door at Parkhead. Clubs in Japan, Italy and America are interested in signing the Greece striker – according to Fabrizio Romano.
At Rangers, Alfredo Morelos is out of contract at the end of the season and could be a target for Mexican side Tigres. Antonio Colak managed 45 minutes before an injury and while Kemar Roofe is back – Rangers need another striker.
Nisbet would be perfect for either side. He is a proven goalscorer in the Premiership and given he is in his final 18 months at Hibernian – he would be relatively cheap. Hibs will not sell him in January, though. Perhaps, in the summer.
