Aiden McGeady joined Sunderland from Everton in the summer of 2017.

Former Celtic star McGeady, who won the Scottish league title thrice with the Hoops, joined Everton from Spartak in January 2014 for a transfer fee reported by The Times to be worth £8 million and when Roberto Martinez was in charge of the Toffees.
The Republic of Ireland international failed to play regularly at Goodison Park, and had two separate loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End during his time at the Toffees.
McGeady left Everton for Sunderland in the Championship in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £250,000.
The 31-year-old winger has stated that his career had stalled at Everton.

McGeady told The Times: “I was used sparingly, and I always thought I was the guy that would be omitted from the team, no matter how I had done the previous game.
“For instance, I started season 2014-15 pretty well, and scored in our opening game against Leicester City, but was dropped the following week.
“And so it went on, I’d miss three or four games at a time. I thought, ‘am I just going to play reserve football?’ In the end I knew I had to leave Everton.”
The Sunderland winger added about his time at Wednesday: “I had a few run-ins with the manager, Carlos Carvalhal, and I only played about ten games. So it turned out my move to Everton kind of left my career stalling.”

Sunderland struggles
McGeady is playing more at Sunderland, and has scored six goals and provided four assists in 22 Championship starts for the Black Cats so far this season.
Sunderland are struggling in the Championship at the moment and could get relegated to League One at the end of the season.
