Aidan Wilson names Rangers teammate he’s learned a lot from after signing new deal

Glasgow Rangers defender Aidan Wilson has handed the Gers a boost by signing a one-year contract extension at Ibrox.

Aidan Wilson has told Rangers’ official website that working with Bruno Alves has been extremely beneficial for him after signing a contract extension at Ibrox.

Wilson’s previous deal with the Gers was set to expire in the summer of 2019, but the club have confirmed on their official website that the 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal that could see him stick around until 2020.

Wilson will now be hoping to press on for more chances in the first-team after a handful of appearances so far, where he may be looking to play alongside Alves at the heart of the Light Blues’ defence. And after agreeing the new deal, the teenager outlined just how influential the summer signing has been on his development.

“Bruno is very professional, you learn a lot from his demeanour as well, how he conducts himself and how he is around the place,” he told the club’s official website.

“He is always working hard but he is quite quiet. He works so hard and you can see how he has got to where he’s got to.

“I have had a couple of chats with him and he has helped me on a few occasions, positional work and just making sure I am in the right place. He has been very good with me.”

Though Alves has not quite shown the form that the fans would have been hoping for since he arrived in the Scottish Premiership, Wilson’s comments arguably suggest that he has still been a good signing.

He has brought a wealth of experience with him, and it is the players like Wilson, Ross McCrorie and David Bates who could potentially benefit from that knowledge as they work alongside him every single day.
