Aston Villa have been linked with Hull City defender Ahmed Elmohamady in recent times.
According to the Daily Star, Hull City defender Ahmed Elmohamady is a potential transfer target for Aston Villa.
And his comments after Bruce left Hull, suggest that a reunion with the 56-year-old manager could certainly appeal.
Elmohamady admitted he was gutted when Bruce left Hull, as he was so fond of the current Villa manager.
“He’s a big manager, one of the most experienced in England, and it was very, very disappointing when he left,” Elmohamady said to the Guardian back in February 2017.
“The fans were disappointed, the players were disappointed, but it was to do with the board and you can’t do anything with it. He’s doing a great job now with Villa so I wish him all the best, and I don’t know what is going to happen in the future.”
Elmohamady is now believed to be on Villa’s wishlist, as Bruce looks to strengthen his squad.
Villa are believed to have a limited budget though, meaning they may have to sell players before making a move for the Egyptian international.
Elmohamady played an important role for Hull this season, featuring 33 times for the Tigers.
Hull are unlikely to want to lose the 29-year-old, unless they receive a sizeable offer.
But if Villa can agree terms, Elmohamady’s past comments about Bruce should offer hope that a move to the Midlands would appeal.
