Ahmed Elmohamady joined Aston Villa from Championship rivals Hull City during the summer.

Elmohamady was one of the few arrivals during a much more low-key summer for the Villans – barring the arrival of John Terry – and he has made a bright start to life with the club.

The move to Villa Park presented the wide-man with the chance to work with Bruce for the third time, with the Egyptian playing under him for both Sunderland and Hull previously.
And he suggested that being given the opportunity to work with Bruce again was a key reason behind his decision to make the switch from their Championship rivals.

“He’s someone I’m very familiar with and I know how he works having spent time with him at Hull. So that was a big incentive as well.”
It is not difficult to see why Bruce wanted Elmohamady in his ranks this term, as he not only provides some creativity down that right flank, but also provides plenty of versatility.
The 30-year-old has been deployed in every position down that line, and has contributed three assists in the Championship along the way. And that consistency will surely go a long way to helping the side put themselves in promotion contention this term.
