Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has raved about Weston McKennie on LeedsLive, and has suggested that the Juventus-owned midfielder could start against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in the Premier League this weekend.

McKennie joined Premier League club Leeds on loan from Serie A outfit Juventus in the January transfer window.

The USA international midfielder completed his move to Elland Road on deadline day.

Marsch has spoken highly of his American compatriot, and the Leeds boss has said that he 24-year-old has been really impressive in training.

Marsch said when asked if McKennie could start for Leeds this weekend: “Weston is a competitor, he believes in himself, he’s flexible, he’s aggressive, confident and quality. He’s been outstanding in training, he’s fit and in consideration to start.”

Exciting

In our view, Weston McKennie is one of the best signings that Leeds United have made for a while.

The USA international is a very dynamic player who will make himself a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park and will drive the team forward.

You do not get signed up by Juventus if you are not a very good player.

Leeds need(ed) that youthful vigour and dynamism in midfield, and McKennie will give them that.

Now, of course, we have to be mindful of the fact that the American has only just joined Leeds.

It is a new league in a new country with a very different footballing style and culture from Italy.

So, we have to give McKennie some time to get used to the Premier League and settle in at Leeds.

However, we believe that the American will be a big success at Leeds and will be a key figure in the Whites’ quest to escape the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
