Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal targeted Jordan Henderson and Thiago during the Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal got the better of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool 3-2 at home in the Premier League.

It was a thrilling game in which Liverpool came from behind twice, only for the Gunners to eventually find the winner.

Liverpool manager Klopp believes that Arsenal were “very aggressive” in the second half and went man v man against midfielders Thiago and Henderson.

Jurgen Klopp on Arsenal tactics v Jordan Henderson and Thiago

Klopp said: “Yes, Arsenal came out again very aggressive, man v man against Hendo and Thiago, but we were not flexible enough anymore in the frontline – so didn’t drop in the right moments, didn’t offer half-spaces, apart from the goal from where we did that obviously particularly well.”

Need to bounce back

Yes, the winner from Arsenal was controversial, but Liverpool cannot moan about the result for long.

The Merseyside club need to bounce back and get their season back on track.

After playing Rangers in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Liverpool will lock horns with Manchester City in the Premier League.

If the Reds lose to the defending Premier League champions, then they could be in danger of missing out on the top four this season.

Yes, even this early in the campaign.
