Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will speak to the agent of Marco Asensio over a potential move for the Real Madrid playmaker in the summer of 2023, according to The Mirror.

The report has claimed that the agent of Asensio will fly out to London in the coming days and hold talks with Arsenal over a potential move for the 27-year-old.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly really likes the £118,000-a-week (SalarySport) Spain international, who can also play as a winger, and would love to have him at the Emirates Stadium.

Asensio is out of contract at last season’s La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners Madrid at the end of the season.

Good signing for the Gunners?

In our view, Marco Asensio would be a very good signing for Arsenal and would make the Gunners better in attack.

Asensio is a very good attacking midfielder who has extensive experience.

And he is a winner.

During his time at Madrid so far, the 27-year-old has won La Liga three times and the UEFA Champions League on three occasions.

Now, of course, we know that Martin Odegaard is a very good creative midfielder.

And Emile Smith Rowe is also an option for Arteta.

But with Arsenal set to play in the UEFA Champions League next season and to compete for the Premier League title for the upcoming seasons, the Gunners need players such as Asensio to take them to the next level.
