The agent of a reported Arsenal target wants clarity from his client’s club.
Daniele Piraino, who represents the Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara, told Tuttomercatoweb last month that the player was ‘happy’ with his current employers, despite being ‘liked’ by many English clubs including Arsenal.
The few weeks since then, however, have been somewhat eventful for Diawara, whose involvement against Hellas Verona last week saw Roma awarded a 3-0 defeat by the Serie A authorities.
The 23-year-old had been incorrectly registered as an under-22 player and was therefore ineligible for the match, which finished 0-0.
And, against Juventus on Sunday, Diawara remained on the bench until the 72nd minute – something about which neither he nor Piraino were pleased.
“In this period, a real shame,” the Arsenal target’s representative told Tuttomercatoweb. “He was happy with the performance of his teammates but he wanted to play from the beginning, especially to stay in the titles for what he does and how he deserves.
“There is a week left for the transfer market, if we add the technical choices to the oversights in the list, we must take stock with the club. We would like clarity on the real role and importance of Amadou in the club’s project.”
Diawara is one of a number of defensive-minded central midfielders in whom Arsenal have been credited with an interest ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
The Gunners were readying a £27 million offer for the Guinean last month, according to Corriere Dello Sport.
But any move could hinge on Arsenal’s ability to offload Lucas Torreira, who is said to have interest from two of Roma’s Serie A rivals and Atletico Madrid.
