Agent takes to Twitter to address claims about Ibrahim Amadou

Crystal Palace and West Ham United miss out on Ibrahim Amadou.

The agent of Lille ace Ibrahim Amadou, Sylvain Chavanon, has taken to Twitter through his agency Carrierefoot to clarify the situation surrounding his client.

Amadou, 24, joined Lille from French rivals Nancy back in 2015, and he has become a mainstay of the Lille side, producing impressive displays whether played in defence or midfield.

The Cameroon-born midfielder has impressed so much in France that he has now triggered major interest, and was involved in a bizarre transfer deadline day saga.

As reported by Sky Sports, London rivals Crystal Palace and West Ham United both wanted to sign Amadou, and he headed to London in a bid to force through a move as Lille refused offers.

Eventually, the deadline passed without Lille sanctioning his exit, and Amadou was allegedly left distraught as his Premier League move slipped away from him.

However, agent Sylvain Chavanon, through this agency Carrierefoot, took to Twitter this week to comment on the situation, defending his client.

Chavanon claims that the portrayal of Amadou as being devastated with the failed move has been causing him problems at Lille, and he wants to do his talking on the pitch rather than in the media.

“Following the events that occurred in the last hours of the transfer window, it is necessary to reestablish some truths about the missed transfer of Ibrahim Amadou,” the statement read. “British media, which have no contact with Ibrahim, have portrayed a player devastated by this failed transfer. Various rumours in this sense were then relayed in France (without prior verification), provoking the anger of Lille supporters against Ibrahim. He did not wish to return on these events and preferred to express himself where it really counts, ie on the pitch,” it added.

It remains to be seen whether Palace or West Ham return with a new move for Amadou in the summer, but he will certainly need to impress on the pitch to earn repeat interest, and he seems prepared to give his all to Lille in the meantime.
