Watford striker Troy Deeney won’t be joining West Ham United, according to his agent.

The agent of Watford striker Troy Deeney has told the Watford Observer that there is no truth to rumours that his client could be on his way to Premier League rivals West Ham United.

The Mirror reported on Monday that West Ham are still looking for a new striker during the January transfer window, with Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza failing to make an impact since joining the club on loan over the summer – and Deeney is believed to be a target.

The 28-year-old centre forward has starred for Watford since joining from Walsall in 2010, and having hit 15 goals in all competitions last season as well as three so far this term, Deeney is now just one goal away from reaching 100 goals for Watford.

That has made him a Vicarage Road hero, and whilst there was speculation surrounding a possible move away from the club over the summer, he eventually penned a new five-year contract, committing his future to the Hornets until 2021.

That was meant to put an end to transfer speculation, but Deeney is again being linked with a move away from Watford, with West Ham allegedly making enquiries to try and sign the striker.

However, any ideas of a move to the London Stadium – a ground on which Deeney scored earlier this season in a 4-2 win for Watford – have been put to bed by the striker’s agent.

Speaking to the Watford Observer, Deeney’s agent admitted that he has heard the rumour about a move to West Ham, but stated that ‘it’s not true’.

He added that there is no interest in Deeney right now, and the man himself is merely concentrating on trying to impress with Watford to finally earn a place in the England squad.

“I heard the rumour this morning; it’s not true, not even close,” said Deeney’s agent. “There’s no interest at the moment and Troy is just concentrating on playing for Watford and trying to get in the England squad,” he added.
