Kia Joorabchian has said that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho told him that he was trying to get his client Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Arsenal, with the agent adding that the midfielder had an offer from Everton, as quoted in Metro.

As reported by Sky Sports, Tottenham have paid Premier League rivals Southampton £15 million in transfer fees to sign Hojbjerg this summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder had been on the books of Southampton since 2016 and has established himself as an influential player in the Premier League.

The Denmark international’s agent has said that Everton made an offer for the former Bayern Munich player.

Joorabchian has added that Mourinho told him that he was trying to get Hojbjerg to Arsenal, which he has denied.

Metro quotes Joorabchian as saying: “When a story picks up, it goes. I was talking to Jose after Pierre signed [for Tottenham] and he said, ‘Ah, you were trying to get him to Arsenal’.

“We never tried to get him to Arsenal. He had an offer from Everton. A rumour picks up and people kind of think, oh that sounds good, let’s try and build on that because we have nothing else to write.”

Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?

Hojbjerg is a very good midfielder, and there is no surprise that Everton made an offer for him.

The Dane will give Spurs a physical presence in the middle of the park and will make the North London outfit more combative in midfield.

With Hojbjerg in the team, Mourinho’s side will have a better chance of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table next season.
