Kevin Wimmer’s agent has commented on his future with the club.
The agent of Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer has told Spox that clubs outside of England are finding it ‘difficult’ to afford the Austrian.
Wimmer, 24, joined Spurs from Bundesliga side Koln in the summer of 2015, with Mauricio Pochettino swooping to land him as cover for Jan Vertonghen and later Toby Alderweireld.
The Austrian international had to make do with a bit-part role in his first season with Spurs, making just ten Premier League appearances whilst playing 21 games in all competitions.

Last term though, Wimmer cut a frustrated figure. Even with Pochettino switching to a system incorporating three centre backs, Wimmer couldn’t break into the side, with Eric Dier favoured alongside Alderweireld and Vertonghen.
Wimmer played in just five Premier League games and made ten appearances in total last season, with his lack of first-team football sparking rumours about a summer move away from North London.
The Mirror recently reported that Southampton are keen on signing Wimmer, though Tottenham’s £20million asking price – more than four times what they paid for him in 2015 – is a stumbling block.
Now, Wimmer’s agent Jurgen Werner has told Spox that Tottenham do still view Wimmer as a promising talent, and claims he would be a regular for Spurs by 2019 if he stays, noting that big Premier League clubs tend to prefer experienced defenders – though he did forget Manchester United’s Eric Bailly.

Werner added that teams from Germany and Italy have been keen to sign Werner, but they are finding it difficult to meet Tottenham’s asking price this summer.
“They still see him as a talent,” said Werner. “If he remains, he will be a regular in two years’ time. The top clubs of the Premier League are all the more experienced players, and John Stones is the only regular under 25.”
“There was also interest from Germany or Italy, but because of the asking price, it is difficult for all clubs outside the Premier League,” he added.
