Agent says ‘other doors’ will open for Watford star if they get relegated

Watford are in a terrible position in the league at the moment. The Hornets are yet to guarantee survival in the Premier League and sadly for them, their last two games are against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Nigel Pearson was sacked despite his incredible job since his arrival. That was a needless, yet big, statement from the board who have shown that they have no problem getting rid of managers when things don’t go well.

That approach, despite their recent success, is a risky one. The lack of longevity of a manager is never good for a side and it has come back to bite them now.

Getting rid of managers is one thing but losing star players is an entirely different problem. The Hornets have a number of quality players at their helm but none more so than their record signing Ismaila Sarr.

The £31 million buy from Rennes last summer (Telegraph) has had a decent season but his first campaign could well be his last if his agent’s words are anything to go by.

Sarr’s agent, Thierno Seydi, spoke to WiW Sports about his client’s future beyond the end of this season and Watford fans should be worried ahead of their final two games of this term.

He said: “If Watford stay up in the Premier League, [Sarr] will be able to confirm himself next season before joining a bigger club. If they’re relegated, it opens other doors. I’m praying for them to stay up so he can have a second season”.

Watford certainly have their backs against the wall now. It is very unlikely that they pick up any points against Manchester City and Arsenal which would mean that they are relying on Aston Villa and Bournemouth to lose their remaining games.

Aston Villa face Arsenal before finishing off against West Ham on the final day. Bournemouth face Everton on the final day and a win there would put them level on points with the Hornets.

Watford boast a superior goal difference to both Villa and Bournemouth but a hammering against either Manchester City or Arsenal or both will change that completely and push the Hornets down if one of the other two gets a win.
