The agent for reported Tottenham Hotspur target Stefan Savic claims the defender could leave Atletico Madrid this summer if a good offer arrives, Libertad Digital report.
The 29-year-old centre-back has emerged as a top target for Spurs.
According to a recent report by Todo Fichajes, Jose Mourinho has made Savic his first option as the Portuguese boss looks to bolster Tottenham’s defence.
The Spanish editorial claim Atleti are open to selling him for £13.5 million.
Earlier this week, Savic’s agent sparked doubts of his client’s future in Madrid by saying, “If a good offer arrives, Savic will probably leave Atletico Madrid.”
Libertad Digital go on to add that Atleti are well covered in central defence with Felipe, Jose Jimenez and Mario Hermoso for options while Nehuen Perez is due back from a loan spell in Portugal.
Competition for places has restricted Savic to just 14 La Liga starts this term.
But having said, Diego Simeone picked the 6ft 2inch defender for both legs of Atleti’s 4-2 aggregate win over Premier League leaders Liverpool in the Champions League.
Savic wouldn’t represent a long-term option for Tottenham. Nor does he have much re-sale value.
But the Montenegro international could be an excellent short-term fit for a relatively modest price.
Jan Vertonghen’s contract expires this summer. With the Belgian expected to leave, Spurs must find a replacement and Savic is a typically robust Mourinho-type player.
The Atleti man has Premier League experienced with Manchester City. He helped the Citizens win the title in 2011-12, making 11 league appearances that season.
