Fortuna Dusseldorf have not yet had any ‘contact’ from Nottingham Forest regarding a potential Premier League switch for Jamil Siebert, sporting director Christian Weber tells RP while explaining that the highly-rated centre-back will be going nowhere in January.

You could fill an entire starting XI and two benches with the players Forest signed during a hectic summer window. 26 new faces in total.

But do not make the mistake in assuming that the two-time European champions plan to keep their chequebook in their pocket next month. Nottingham Forest have already agreed a deal for Palmeiras playmaker Gustavo Scarpa; officially named the best player in Brazilian football for 2022.

And, in November, Siebert’s agent admitted that the Germany U20 international was also on Steve Cooper’s radar.

“It is true that the two clubs (Forest and Roma) are interested in Jamil,” the centre-back’s representative told BILD. “Jamil is very well regarded in England and Italy, having had offers from Leicester City and AC Milan in the past.”

Nottingham Forest won’t be signing Fortuna Dusseldorf’s Jamil Siebert in January

Interested though they may be, Nottingham Forest are yet to hold any sort of talks with Siebert’s current employers, with just four weeks remaining until the transfer window swings open. The 6ft 3ins giant is on loan from Fortuna Dusseldorf at Viktoria Koln until June.

And Weber insists that there are no plans to cut that arrangement short either. As such, any Forest bids will have to wait until later in 2023.

“There is actually no new information to report from our side,” the director explains, via Fussball Transfers. “Jamil still has a contract with us. We have arranged a loan with Viktoria Köln until the end of the season, which will definitely last.”

“So far, the clubs mentioned have not contacted us or asked about him at all. We assume that he will return in the summer. That was the idea that we discussed with him.”

Siebert is currently under contract at the Bundesliga.2 outfit until 2025.
