Andre Villas-Boas won’t be heading to Celtic this summer.

The agent of Andre Villas-Boas has told The Scottish Sun that he will not be the next Celtic manager, and won’t be working in Scotland any time soon.

Celtic lost Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City back in February, and brought back former boss Neil Lennon as his replacement until the end of the season.

Lennon has so far won five of his seven games in charge, drawing the other two as he closes in on another league title having beaten Rangers 2-1 last month.

However, the style of play is already a far cry from the stint under Rodgers, and fans are wondering whether a more glamorous appointment could be made instead of handing Lennon a long-term job.

A host of names have been suggested by fans, and Andre Villas-Boas was one such name, even if based on very little in terms of actual speculation.

The Portuguese boss, 41, has been out of football since leaving Shanghai SIPG in 2017, and became a rally driver in 2018, participating in a couple of races.

A former Europa League winner with Porto, Villas-Boas will be best remembered for his time with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, before heading to Russia with Zenit St Petersburg.

Some fans on Twitter have wondered whether Villas-Boas would become the next Celtic manager, but agent Jean-Paul Lares claims that won’t be happening any time soon.

“André will not be working in Scotland in the foreseeable future and will not be available for comment,” said Lares.
