The agent of Torino defender Perr Schuurs has admitted a summer move could happen with Liverpool and Newcastle United interested in bringing the Serie A star to the Premier League.

George Gardi has never been anything but open when discussing the future of his Dutch U21 international client.

The agent admitted, late last year, that Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool were all interested before Perr Schuurs opted instead for the sort of guaranteed first-team football on offer at Torino.

If reports are to be believed, Liverpool have not forgotten about him either. The former Ajax defender – who impressed against Jurgen Klopp’s side during the Champions League group-stages a couple of years ago – remains on the radar.

Is Perr Schuurs heading to Liverpool or Newcastle United?

Now valued at around £45 million; the elegant, ball-playing Schuurs would likely replace the injury-prone, soon-to-be-32-year-old Joel Matip in Jurgen Klopp’s roster.

Newcastle United can offer Champions League football. Not to mention the opportunity to continue his development under a coach who turned Joelinton, Fabian Schar, Sean Longstaff and co into some of the Premier League’s most consistent performers (Gianluca di Marzio).

Gardi, meanwhile, is refusing to rule out a move away from Turin this summer.

“His ambition is to play at the highest level of European football,” Gardi tells Fabrizio Romano. “He’s had an amazing season so there are several clubs interested in him. We will discuss with Torino if it is a decision that is positive for all parties.

“It could be an option to evaluate this summer.”

Once labelled the natural heir to Matthijs de Light at Ajax; 23-year-old Schuurs would add some much-needed depth to a rather small Newcastle side hoping to balance domestic and European exploits next term with Champions League football on it’s way back to St James’ Park.

According to the Daily Mail, Howe wants another right-sided centre-half to provide competition for the excellent but ageing Schar.
