Bacca has again been linked with the Hammers after their unsuccessful summer pursuit of the striker.

West Ham United fans may have to let the dream of signing Carlos Bacca die again – at least until the summer – as the striker’s agent has told calciomercato there is “no reason” why the Colombian would leave AC Milan this month.

The Hammers were ultimately unsuccessful in their prolonged attempts to bring the 30-year-old to the London Stadium in the summer as they looked to bring in a top-class striker.

Reports last month suggested that the club would renew their chase in January after a poor first half of the season which has seen their current attacking stars misfire badly.

Then, a fortnight ago, Slaven Bilic suggested to the Mirror that Bacca is still on his and the club’s radar as they finally look to solve their goalscoring woes.

However, it appears as though their hopes are about to be dashed once again, as Bacca’s agent, Sergio Barila, told calciomercato that the striker is happy at Milan.

Barila said: “There’s no reason why Bacca should leave AC Milan. His family and him are happy in Italy, he loves the club he plays for and he’s happy with his performances.

“In addition to that he has just won his first trophy with AC Milan. Why should he leave now?”

“Bacca was one of the first players to return to training after holidays, he’s a great pro and wants to score many goals in 2017. He’s going through a goal drought, but he’ll score again soon. There have never been problems between Bacca and [Vincenzo] Montella.”

That news will come as a disappointment to Hammers fans, who had their hopes raised again by the reports and Bilic’s comments.

It appears they will have to look elsewhere if they are to boost their attacking firepower, with a move for former star Jermain Defoe reportedly high on the agenda.
