The Dutchman was wanted by Galatasaray yesterday.

Tottenham Hotspur have been criticised by many for not bringing in a new striker this January. Harry Kane has been in good form yet again this season but only has summer signing Vincent Janssen in support.

The Dutchman has struggled for form since making his move to Spurs from AZ Alkmaar in the summer. He has failed to score from open play and looks to be off the pace for English football at present.

With that in mind, it appears Turkish side Galatasaray decided to make a move for the player.

They have been linked with Janssen already this winter and they made a cheeky bid to loan him for six months, with a view to a permanent deal.

His agent has confirmed the interest. Yesterday Louis Laros told ESPN that the Turkish side did want the player but confirmed he was going nowhere:

“Absolutely not happening! Janssen is not joining Galatasaray, they may want him but he is not leaving.

“Janssen will of course stay at Tottenham, he is not going anywhere.”

That certainly proved the case. Janssen remains at Tottenham and the club’s decision not to sign any new strikers shows their faith in his ability to act as a sufficient back-up to Kane at White Hart Lane.

Hopefully the Dutchman can now prove himself worthy of a Premier League chance.

Will Janssen find his feet?
