Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have both been credited with an interest in signing the Dutchman.
When speaking to ESPN, Tottenham and Liverpool linked Steven Bergwijn’s agent Fulco van Kooperen suggested that Bayern Munich are the clear front-runners in the race for his client’s signature.
Last month, Voetbal International reported that Spurs were keen on signing the Holland international, whilst De Telegraaf claims that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring him to Anfield.
Bergwijn, 21, was in fine form for PSV Eindhoven last season, racking up 15 goals and 13 assists in 41appearances in all competitions for the Dutch outfit.
And the winger would be an excellent addition for either Tottenham or Liverpool.
According to his agent, however, both Premier League clubs have their work cut out if they want to sign his client.
Fulco van Kooperen told ESPN how Bayern Munich lead the way to sign Bergwijn, and suggested that the German giants can take all the time they need:
“We have never, never said we are losing patience. Bayern are a great and huge club and it’s great they like Steven. They can take all the time they need. On the other side, it’s not a secret there are more clubs which like him.”
The Dutchman could be available for somewhere in the region of £35 million this summer, according to the Daily Mail, and that will represent excellent value for money, for whichever club wins the race for his signature.
As things stand, however, it seems as though Tottenham and Liverpool have a lot of work to do, if they want to beat Bayern in the race to sign Bergwijn.
