The Turkish international has been linked with a move to Spurs.
Reports in Turkey this week suggested that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal for Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topal.
Plenty of Turkish sources, including Karar, reported that Spurs have already agreed a pre-contract agreement with the midfielder ahead of a summer move.
The versatile midfielder is out of contract in the summer and would be arriving in London on a free transfer.
Topal, who has played for Fenerbahce since 2012, is keen on living in London and Spurs are set to give him that opportunity.
There has been no official confirmation yet of this apparently done deal. His agent has however been asked about the deal.
Batur Altiparmak told Turkish-football.com:
“Everybody writes something different every other day so I am not going to respond to every transfer rumour.
“Let us wait until the end of the season and see what happens.”
The 30-years-old 56-caps Turkish international would be a n interesting move for Spurs. A little older than their recent target market his signing would surely be in advance of Champions League football next season. Topal, who has previously played for Valencia and Galatasaray, has plenty of experience in Europe.
For now, the story remains just that, a story, and no official confirmation has emerged so Tottenham fans should hold off on expecting to see Topal at White Hart Lane next season.
But it is certainly a deal to keep track of.
