Southampton have previously shown interest in the Leeds United defender.

The agent of Leeds United’s Pontus Jansson has dismissed fresh speculation that the defender could leave Elland Road for Southampton.
Jansson was linked with a move to Southampton while on loan at Elland Road, where he signed new a five-year contract last October – three months after his permanent transfer went through.
But after the Saints sold Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool for £75 million at the start of January, Jansson has again emerged as a target for the Premier League side, according to Fotbollskanalen in the Leeds star’s native Sweden.

The report adds, however, that Leeds do not want to sell the 26-year-old, for whom they are reported to have paid £3.6 million. And according to his agent, Martin Dahlin, Jansson “is fully focused on taking Leeds in the Premier League”.
Leeds finished seventh in Jansson’s first season at Elland Road, and occupy the same position this campaign under his fellow Scandinavian, Thomas Christiansen.

The Whites are level on points with sixth-placed Sheffield United, however, who they face at Bramall Lane next month.
Southampton, meanwhile, are only a point above the Premier League’s relegation places – a potential factor in Jansson’s thinking.
Would Jansson be an adequate Van Dijk replacement?
