Leeds United have been linked with Michael Folorunsho.

Leeds United undoubtedly need new signings this summer, and whilst fans are dreaming of a move for Helder Costa, Michael Folorunsho won’t have been a name fans had even heard of, never mind wanted.

Folorunsho is a relative unknown. Formerly of Lazio, he’s since dropped down to the third tier of Italian football, and currently featured with Virtus Francavilla.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a superb season, scoring seven goals from midfield in 31 league games, whilst also picking up one assist.

Folorunsho’s displays are beginning to generate attention, and he’s suddenly being linked with a host of clubs having barely been heard of a month ago.

Last week, Tutto Calcio Puglia in Italy reported that Leeds United want Folorunsho, and it’s owner Andrea Radrizzani who wants him at Elland Road.

Just how Radrizzani is driving the interest is unclear, and whether Marcelo Bielsa would want Folorunsho isn’t tackled, with Radrizzani described as the man in charge of this potential move.

Now though, Folorunsho’s agent Pasquale Gagliardi has told Tutto Bari that talks have been held with Bari about a move, meaning Leeds will have to get a move on if they want to sign him.

Gagliardi added that even Serie A teams now want his client, hailing him as a physically and technically-gifted midfield player who impressed in front of goal last season, and a move may be on the cards this summer.

“There have been talks with Bari, an important place,” said Gagliardi. “But it is only one of the many teams that, luckily, is looking for him. Having had an important season, he has many requests also from Serie A and B. We are talking, we’ll see. There is time but it is not certain that he leaves, he is owned by Francavilla. The interested clubs must talk to them.”

“He is a midfielder that makes physical strength his main characteristic. He is also a technical footballer. This year he did very well in the final third,” he added.
