The agent of Sunderland attacker Fabio Borini has been talking about the player’s future after a difficult campaign at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland were relegated last season, finishing bottom of the Premier League under the guidance of David Moyes. Borini did not play a major role in the campaign. He was out injured for most of the season, featuring just 15 times and scoring just once.

His agent Roberto De Fanti spoke about the player to Radio Sei and admitted he could be on his way this summer:

“There are negotiations underway, only a few calls of interest . It’s still early, we are only on June 20th.”

He went on to mention Lazio, with whom Borini has been linked:

“It’s nice to hear that there is esteem for him by (Simone) Inzaghi, who has done a great job with Lazio, there would absolutely take account of any chance to return to Italy . A few goals? There is a striker, is a player who gives his best when he beside a role attacker. in almost all the teams in which it was always went into double figures. After relegation Sunderland should facilitate the disposal of the player.”

The Italian attacker, who has one cap for the Azzurri, would be a great signing for several clubs and plenty of teams have been linked with his signature already.

Celtic and AC Milan are also believed to be keen on snapping up the player this summer with Borini unlikely to want to remain in the Championship next term.

Sunderland, who are still managerless after Moyes’ resignation, will be looking for a good return on a player who, according to the BBC, cost them £10 million in 2015.
