Agent of 24-year-old would like client that Liverpool are watching, to join Arsenal

The agent of Galatasaray attacker Kerem Akturkoglu has told Tribal Football that he would like his client to join Arsenal ahead of the January window – amid reports that Liverpool have been scouting the Turkey international.

Akturkoglu, 24, joined Galatasaray after a few spells at lower Turkish sides, in 2020. Since then, he has already clocked up 93 games in all competitions. In that time, he has had a hand in 39 goals. He has 16 caps for Turkey.

While not young, he is just starting to throw himself onto the European radar. Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim Liverpool sent scouts to watch Akturkoglu last month – as well as Sacha Boey, Yunus Akgun and Victor Nelsson.

Now, Akturkoglu’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut has been talking up a move away from Gala, ahead of January. He says that he thinks the winger will play in the Premier League – and a move to Arsenal would benefit the star’s career.

“I think he will play in the Premier League, but at the moment he’s just become a first team player for the national team as well, so he really is developing step by step, which is very important for the player not to overpace (things).

“As a coach right now you’d want to send young players to Arteta to develop . He always plays young players. So you always want a player to go to Arsenal and play and develop, especially as a young player,” Sogut said.

Arsenal could do with him. While his stats are not jumping off the page, they are decent – and at an improving level. The Gunners have Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the flanks. Reiss Nelson and Marquinhos provide cover.

Emile Smith-Rowe is injured, while Nicolas Pepe is out on loan – but unlikely to return. Nelson is a player that has only just come back into the side after his brace against Nottingham Forest. He was considered an outcast.

Marquinhos has only played four times at senior level for Arsenal; he is still a rookie. So, bringing in a player with a bit more experience to provide cover on the flanks would be ideal. Akturkoglu could be that man.
