Lautaro Martinez is not thinking about leaving Serie A champions Inter Milan despite interest from Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, the striker’s agent tells Radio Cologne.

Romelu Lukaku’s face told a thousand words. And not many of them complementary.

As Chelsea stumbled to a 1-0 defeat at an inspired Everton on Sunday afternoon, the most expensive centre-forward in football history was little more than a frustrated spectator. Gathering dust on the sidelines as Timo Werner and co attempted to pick the most tricky of locks with little more than brute force and belligerence.

And the Belgian’s Stamford Bridge struggles may be a warning to his former San Siro strike partner. Corriere dello Sport claim that Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United could take advantage of Inter’s precarious financial situation in the off-season.

Spurs and Arsenal want Lautaro Martinez

“Sometimes the press talks about his possible transfer but he only thinks of Inter,” explains Alejandro Camano, who, not for the first time, is at pains to point out that his Argentine international client is content at a Nerazzuri side chasing down arch rivals AC Milan in an enthralling Scudetto race.

“We’re not looking for a negotiation to take him elsewhere. He’s happy at Inter, the city is wonderful. He’s only focussing on Inter.

“Lautaro is growing as a footballer. Let’s not forget that he is still 24 years old. He is already establishing himself as one of the best strikers on the international scene.

“A new generation of forwards is appearing, of which Lautaro is a part.”

Following in Romelu Lukaku’s footsteps

Of course, the decision over Lautaro’s future may be taken out of his hands. Lukaku made no attempt to hide the fact that, if given the choice, he would rather have stayed at Inter for another season after all.

Corriere dello Sport add that Inter’s Chinese owners are under pressure to raise around £60 million in the summer, while slashing the club’s sizeable wage bill.

Lautaro’s reported £65 million price-tag would make him a lot cheaper than, say, Victor Osimhen and Alexander Isak.

What’s more, he’s scored more goals – 21 – than both the Napoli and Real Sociedad stars. Including a long-range stunner at Anfield in the Champions League.
