Tottenham Hotspur have snapped up goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario with the speed of their deal impressing one agent.
Guglielmo Vicario was wanted by Inter Milan but Tottenham Hotspur pounced with a ‘fast’ deal for the goalkeeper.
That’s the view of agent Rubinho, who is working as an intermediary in the transfer market.
Rubinho was a goalkeeper himself back in his playing days, turning out for the likes of Genoa, Palermo, Torino and Juventus.
The 40-year-old is now an agent and has been speaking to Tuttomercatoweb about Vicario’s move away from Empoli.
Vicario excelled in Serie A last season and became one of the top goalkeepers in Italian football.
Tottenham pounced, striking a £17million deal in a move which seemed to go at breakneck speed.
It felt like Vicario rumours were emerging and then all of a sudden the deal was pretty much done.
Rubinho has now commented on the move, believing Empoli have secured a good price for Vicario.
Rubinho added that Tottenham were ‘fast’ on the deal and effectively beat Inter Milan because they were so quick to turn interest into a transfer.
Inter were eyeing Vicario to potentially replace Andre Onana, who is wanted by Manchester United.
That deal hasn’t moved forward though and Tottenham seized their chance to get a free run at Vicario.
“Empoli did very well,” said Rubinho. “Tottenham were fast. The Inter situation was closely linked to Onana who hasn’t moved so far. Football is dynamic. If you lose an hour, you lose the deal,” he added.

Guglielmo Vicario could immediately start for Tottenham Hotspur
The jump from Empoli to Tottenham is a big one, especially in terms of expectation levels.
Vicario may be thrown straight into the side though with Ange Postecoglou sparking a revolution.
Hugo Lloris may move on this summer with interest from clubs in France and Saudi Arabia.

Fraser Forster is in the mix too but isn’t the long-term solution for Tottenham between the sticks.
That means Spurs may go ahead of put Vicario in goal for the opening-day clash against Brentford, trusting him to adjust to Premier League life quickly.
Tottenham’s last Italian goalkeeper didn’t really work out as Pierluigi Gollini struggled, but hopefully Vicario can enjoy much more success after securing his move to North London.
