The Benfica winger is valued at around £26.5 million by the club.

In January both Everton and Leicester City were linked with the signing of Benfica winger Rafa Silva.

Portuguese publication A Bola stated that Everton and Leicester were interested in signing the Portuguese attacker, initially on loan with a view to a permanent £26.5 million move.

It was a deal that looked likely and would have pleased both sets of fans. However, Benfica started to use Silva more in the weeks that followed due to injury problems with usual starter Salvio and any deal fell off the table.

However, his agent has hinted that both Everton and Leicester may still be keen on the player.

Speaking to A Renascenca in Portugal the player’s representative Antonio Araujo stated:

“Europe is calling for Rafa, and the clubs that contacted us in January from the Premier League were still interested in taking him there.”

So it seems there will be some Premier League interest in the player this summer, with the likely clubs being Everton and Leicester given their past history with the player.

Everton will be looking for improvements in most areas after their recruitment drive from last summer failed to have the desired impact.

Leicester in the meanwhile might have to replace Riyad Mahrez in the summer and Silva is certainly of a similar mould.

Time will tell if Rafa Silva finds his way to Everton or Leicester in the summer.
