Southampton are one of several sides said keen on Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi celebrates
The agent of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has explained why his client won’t be joining Southampton.
The Saints are one of three clubs said to have taken a shine to the Nigerian since his January move from Genk, along with Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.
Ndidi was brought to the King Power Stadium as Ngolo Kante’s replacement after the Frenchman’s £30 million departure to Chelsea last summer, however, his representative has assured the Foxes they needn’t fear the 20-year-old following in his predecessor’s footsteps.
“There are many unofficial approaches but he is never going to leave because of the way Leicester players and coaches welcomed and treated him. Besides it is normal,” the unnamed associate told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Southampton never pay big money for players. Ndidi was one of the most expensive Leicester signings and that might increase due to league points and championships.”
Leicester weren’t the only ones to have the heart of their midfield ripped out last summer, with Victor Wanyama quitting Southampton to join Tottenham Hotspur.
And it could be argued the Saints never properly replaced the Kenyan, which would perhaps explain their interest in Ndidi.

However, is seems Claude Puel’s side will have to look elsewhere if they are to add to their engine room in the coming transfer window.
Is Ndidi a player Southampton should go for this summer?
