Reports linking Andrea Cambiaso with a potential £25 million move to Premier League leaders Tottenham Hotspur appear to have already been dismissed by the Juventus defender’s agent.

Giovanni Bia, speaking to Tutto Juve, admits that ‘three or four’ clubs in England’s top-flight were ‘very interested’ in taking the talented full-back away from the Serie A giants over the summer.

Bia did not reveal the identity of those mystery suitors. But, considering that Tottenham have been mentioned in conjunction with Andrea Cambiaso on numerous occasions over the last few windows, it is no exactly a stretch to suggest that Spurs may have been among them.

Calciomercato, as recently as Sunday, reported that Tottenham’s interest in the 23-year-old was very much ongoing, not that Bia can envisage a January departure for a man as happy with life at Juventus as Juventus are with him.

Agent plays down Tottenham Hotspur rumours

“His wish came true,” the agent explains. “That is, to play with Juventus and to have scored a decisive goal.”

There are certainly worse times to open your account for your beloved club. Cambiaso’s 96th minute winner against Hellas Verona over the weekend was his first for the Bianconeri. A strike which will only boost his chances of earning a new, long-term contract.

“What satisfied him most was not so much the personal glory, but rather the awareness of having brought home the three points. He was absolutely delighted,” Bia adds, Cambiaso firing Juve into top spot before Inter Milan defeated Roma 1-0 on the same day.

“He dreams of winning the Scudetto. Three or four Premier League teams were very interested (in the summer). We weren’t surprised by the fact that Juve considered him un-sellable. They would have sold only against an offer of 25 or 30 million euros.

Andrea Cambiaso ‘delighted’ with Juventus

“He has a long contract, and will still have to work to prove himself. He just thinks about playing and doing well with this shirt, then things (such as a new deal) will come by themselves.”

Cambiaso, like former Udinese ace Destiny Udogie, is a left-sided full-back more renowned for his work in the attacking third than in the defensive one. Reports of Spurs’ interest come with Ivan Perisic – even before his recent ACL injury – expected to depart in 2024
