West Ham United won’t be signing midfielder Yaya Toure.
The agent of Yaya Toure has hinted that the midfielder is nearing a return to the game – but isn’t joining West Ham United and Manuel Pellegrini.
Toure, 35, has been a free agent since the end of last season when his Manchester City contract expired, as he left the Etihad Stadium after 316 appearances for the club.
The Ivorian racked up three Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup during his time with City, becoming a club hero in the process, but he was allowed to walk away this summer.
So far, there has been little interest in Toure, with the strongest link so far coming when The Sun reported that West Ham United had held talks about signing him.
That’s no great surprise given that Manuel Pellegrini – Toure’s boss for three years at City – is now in charge of West Ham, and they are still in need of another midfielder.
Suggestions of a move to West Ham ramped up on Tuesday night when Toure’s agent Dimitry Seluk took to Twitter to claim that Toure has passed a medical in London ahead of signing for a new club.
The fact that the medical was in London set tongues wagging that the mystery club signing Toure is West Ham, but Seluk added another tweet claiming that the club 100% isn’t West Ham, as he is a champion and will seemingly be joining a club with a very real shot at silverware this season.
