The agent of Libertad midfielder Enso Gonzalez has confirmed that Premier League outfit Wolves have beaten Roma to his £5 million-rated signature.
A relatively quiet summer at Molineux could still have a very frantic ending, regardless of how that Matheus Nunes saga plays out.
Fabrizio Romano reported late last night that Wolves are on the verge of signing Girona defender Santiago Bueno for around £8.5 million, fighting off competition from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Everton for the Uruguay international centre-half.
Enso Gonzalez, another talented young South American, is also on his way to Molineux. Wolves are paying £5 million; the Daily Mail reporting that Libertad’s 18-year-old whizzkid is already in England for medical tests.

“The transfer of Enso Gonzalez to Wolverhampton Wanderers was worked on in silence,” Libertad president Ruben di Tore explains, Wolves conducting negotiations in the shadows.
“We are going to work a lot with Enso in England to enhance (the talks) further. They had already been watching him.”
Wolves to sign Santiago Bueno and Enso Gonzalez
According to Gonzalez’s agent, Pedro Aldave, Gonzalez has been on Wolves’ radar since the spring. A stylish, dextrous, ball-carrying player, Gonzalez is already a regular in the Libertad XI. He played 30 games and scored three goals last season, even before his 19th birthday.
“Luckily for him, it was possible (for the transfer) to materialise,” Aldave tells Cardinal Deportivo, confirming that Gary O’Neil’s side have beaten one of the biggest clubs in Italy to Gonzalez’s signature.

“We are aiming for him to play in the Premier League. It’s Wolves, they have been following him for four months. He is a very popular player.
“Roma wanted him. There were several teams who wanted him. I had a meeting in Italy but Libertad and that Premier League club also had a relationship. That made things easier.”
