Pablo Bentancur – agent of Cagliari stalwart Nahitan Nandez – has shared some big news which will surely interest Tottenham and Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well, both Tottenham and Leeds were tracking Nandez over the summer.
La Nuovo Sardegna even claimed that Spurs had submitted a bid, while it was Tutto Mercato Web who revealed that Leeds were in talks.
Eventually, Cagliari held firm on their €36m (£31m) release clause, and the Uruguay international stayed in Italy.
Nandez certainly wasn’t happy about that, with Calciomercato claiming the disappointed midfielder will push for a January exit.
Now, Bentancur has said Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini promised Nandez he will do everything he can to grant his wishes.
Bentancur told Calcio Napoli 24: “Cagliari? Giulini has promised the player and me to do everything possible so that he leaves in the January market.
“Nandez wants to win something; he wants to play in the Champions League. The president has given us his word. I think he will sell him at a lower price than the one requested, there is a €36m clause, but the President spoke yesterday with Nandez and told him that he will lower the price and let him leave.”
There you have it – in our view, that sounds pretty definitive.
If Nandez doesn’t leave in January now, it will either be down to a broken promise, or the fact no side stumped up the cash.

Despite Bentancur effectively confirming his client can leave, Nuno Espirito Santo and Marcelo Bielsa might still struggle to land him.
Why? Well, Nandez’s agent says that his client wants to play Champions League football, something neither Spurs or Leeds can offer.
Bentancur also stated that the 25-year-old wants to win things.
With all due respect to Spurs and Leeds, they aren’t exactly hoovering up silverware right now – neither have won a trophy for years.
Perhaps Nandez can be swayed financially, although from a footballing aspect, it doesn’t sound like the pair can meet his needs.
