Mario Mandzukic reportedly rejected Aston Villa and West Ham United, but his agent believes that the former Juventus striker is ‘born to play in the Premier League’, as he told Tuttosport via TMW.

A real throwback of a centre-forward, rarely has a player looked as perfectly suited to the hustle and bustle of English football.

Even at the age of 34, a man who has lifted a remarkable 24 trophies during spells at Bayern Munich, Dinamo Zagreb, Atletico Madrid and Juventus has a lot left to offer.

According to Gianluca di Marzio, West Ham and Aston Villa have offered Mandzukic the chance to play Premier League football before he hangs up his boots.

Although the 89-capped Croatia international has seemingly turned down the chance to don claret-and-blue, his agent still believes a move to England may be a possibility.

“He is perfectly fit. He is waiting for the right option, the team that really wants him and that really believes in him,” Ivan Cjetkovic explained.

“Some offers have arrived but he didn’t feel the total conviction of those who were looking for him. For me, he was born to play in the Premier League but the right situation hasn’t been right yet.

“He’s ready 200 per cent and he doesn’t need to train to get back in shape.”

Reading between the lines, Cjetkovic’s comments suggest that Mandzukic was not totally convinced by the offers put forward by Aston Villa or West Ham.

After leaving Qatari outfit Al-Duhail recently, the 2018 World Cup finalists surely wants a club where he can play regular first-team football and perhaps even challenge for another piece of silverware.
