Tottenham Hotspur will likely be in the market for a new striker this summer, but a limited budget means Jose Mourinho may have to cast the net far and wide.

Harry Kane undoubtedly needs competition. Son Heung-min is better as a winger, whilst Troy Parrott isn’t considered as a first-teamer by Mourinho just yet.

The global pandemic means Tottenham likely aren’t in a position to splash the cash on a striker. That means they may have to look for bargains, and they could dip into the French market.

TEAMtalk claimed in November that Tottenham were keen on Metz striker Habib Diallo – and those links are now resurfacing ahead of the summer window.

Agent Thierno Seydi – best known for being Didier Drogba’s agent – is now looking to earn a big move for Diallo, having facilitated Drogba’s move from Marseille to Chelsea in 2004.

Seydi has told APS in Senegal that Tottenham but forward an offer for Diallo in January, and with Metz reluctantly accepting that he will leave this summer, Seydi is expecting a move.

“Already last January, there was an offer from Tottenham,” said Seydi. “Now he has received an exit offer, and as soon as the European markets open, it should be settled,” he added.

Recent reports from Le Quotidien suggested that Leeds United are prepared to pay around £13.5million for Diallo this summer, so it will now be up to Spurs to decide whether to go in with similar cash.

The 25-year-old striker hit 12 goals and three assists in 26 league games this season. Diallo is a strong forward at 6ft 1in tall, and whilst he may not be quite like Drogba, he could offer some support to Kane if Spurs go back in.
