Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is at the centre of talks with Napoli despite being on the bench today.

Giovani Lo Celso could head to Italy with Napoli after being in the Tottenham Hotspur squad to face West Ham United.

Tottenham have been in pre-season action today with Ange Postecoglou taking charge of his first game as Spurs boss.

Postecoglou’s debut was an up-and-down affair as Spurs went 2-0 down in the first half but roared back to make it 2-2.

West Ham had the last word though as Gianluca Scamacca won it, securing a 3-2 win for David Moyes’ side.

Nobody will be hitting the panic button just yet; this was Postecoglou’s first match after all!

There is plenty of wheeling and dealing for Tottenham to do yet with Postecoglou looking to shape his squad.

In fact, one player who made an appearance for Tottenham today may soon be on his way out.

Napoli in talks to sign Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso

There were a couple of forgotten faces in the Spurs squad against West Ham, starting with Sergio Reguilon at left back.

Midfielder Giovani Lo Celso was another one as the Argentinian came off the bench at half time.

Lo Celso made an impact as he brought Tottenham back into the game, making it 2-1 before Destiny Udogie’s leveller.

The 27-year-old is back at Spurs this summer after his 18-month spell with Villarreal came to an end.

Rumours about his future are rife with Aston Villa, Barcelona and Real Betis all believed to be interested in Lo Celso.

Napoli are now emerging as a real contender to sign Lo Celso though, with one of his agents commenting on the move.

An unnamed representative from Lo Celso’s agency told Radio Punto Nuovo that a deal for the Spurs man to join Napoli is being talked about right now.

“It’s being talked about, but at the moment nothing is closed yet,” they stated.

After seeing Lo Celso make an impact in the second half against West Ham, maybe Postecoglou will be minded to keep hold of him for a little while yet.
