Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are interested in Kristiyan Malinov, according to comments made by the player’s agent to Herald Scotland.

Rangers are interested in signing Malinov from CSKA Sofia in the summer transfer window, according to Herald Scotland.

However, according to the report, a number of other clubs in Europe want the 26-year-old central midfielder as well.

SBV Vitesse, VVV Venlo and KV Mechelen are among the clubs interested in the midfielder, as stated in the report.

Malinov’s agent has said that Rangers are interested in the Bulgaria international, but the Gers have yet to make an official offer.

Marko Mihaljevic told Herald Scotland: “Yes there have been talks with Rangers regarding Kristiyan. Have Rangers sent an offer yet? No.

“We are in talks and there is an interest but deals can’t be done through the night as there are many factors that we must take into consideration.

“It is too soon to say if a deal will happen between Kristiyan and Rangers. Kristiyan is privileged by the interest of Rangers but there are also other clubs who are interested.

“We have to speak with those who have shown interest in Kristiyan and we are keeping all our options open.”

Good signing for Rangers?

Malinov is a very good and experienced midfielder who will make Rangers a better team in the middle of the park.

Described by Herald Scotland as a ‘tough tackling midfielder’, the Bulgaria international can play as an attacking midfielder or in a more defensive role.

With the Gers aiming to stop bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row next season, the Ibrox club could with a player of Malinov’s quality.
