Reports in France yesterday suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are entering the race to sign Portugal midfielder Adrien Silva.
L’Equipe reported that Spurs are ready to make a €15 million (£13 million) move for the Euro 2016 winner, who was born in France, in the next few weeks – after Mauricio Pochettino put him at the top of his wanted list.

The news has obviously now hit Portugal.
His agent is reported by Noticias Ao Minuto as making it clear there has not yet been an approach for the player from Tottenham:
“We have not been contacted by Tottenham.”
A Bola meanwhile are reporting that Sporting president Bruno Carvalho has made it clear he will not sell him for that price and in fact is not keen on selling him at all.

The reports also clarify that Silva has a release clause of €45 million (£38.9 million).
L’Equipe of course did report that no offer was yet on the table for the player and that Spurs were simply preparing a move for his services.
Portugal’s Adrien Silva
Spurs have plenty of midfield options but there have been rumours throughout the summer regarding the futures of players such as Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb.
Silva featured in four games for Portugal as they won the European Championships this summer. He also played a major role, scoring eight goals, as Sporting finished second in the Portuguese title race.
